Terrible Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Went in 2013 for a quick interview. The man was very demanding for a job that paid minimum wage, and when I arrived ON TIME he was very rude to not just the other people interviewing, but also the staff. I immediately knew I was not going to accept the job but went on through the interview process anyway just in case my first impression of the company was bad. But as I continued through the absurd CS tests, I realized that this man, Sanford Wilk, was awful to his employees, prejudiced for sure, and this job did not offer any of the benefits I would like. It also seemed more and more shady. I walked out on the interview and never looked back.

A recollection of EIC from an ex-creative, 8 years after-the-fact.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
EIC Agency was the first gig I landed in Advertising. Since then, I've held positions at some of the biggest shops in NYC and SF, and have managed to land a few shiny awards throughout my career - I tell you this not to brag (as no one on the internet even gives a ***), but so hopefully you can understand that it's not the 'ex-employees' that are sour, but Sanford himself that is the issue. So instead of regurgitating all of the negative reviews (which are totally true), let me give you a run-down as to how you're lifespan will begin and end with EIC (and how mine began and ended as well). 1) Respond to craigslist ad with long-winded cover letter explaining why you deserve the honor to work at this shop that no one has ever heard of. 2) Get an aggressive response from Sanford demanding you come in on a specific date and time for an interview. (No mention of your work, ability, talents, etc., but more-so that you better not waste his time or be late). 3) Show up at interview to realize that there are also 8 other people sitting next to you in the couch area also there to interview. 4) Go through incredibly awkward experience of interviewing with staff as other interviewers patiently wait and listen in. You are then notified that Sanford is running late and will be in eventually to interview you. 5) Holy ***, 2 hours just flew by. 6) Sanford appears. 7) Sanford has little interest in talking to you, so instead he gives you this efficiency test from some local university to gauge how well you can use the Adobe Creative Suite. 8) Sanford realizes you're the only white candidate left, he then tells all of the other candidates to leave... apparently you maybe got the job? 9) Sanford tells you that you failed the test you just worked on, even though he never checked the answers. For some reason, he gives you a job anyway. You guys leave for dinner. 10) Sanford discloses that you will never make more than $8 an hour as a creative at EIC as your main competition is 99 Designs. You wonder why he would ever disclose such information to a potential employee (wait, am I even hired yet?) 11) Sanford tells you health insurance is for suckers and that you will not get any of that either. 12) You question why you want this job so bad. 13) You remember that you need to pay rent. 14) You take the job, but are not certain that either you or Sanford are even excited about it. 15) All of the bad reviews you've read online turn out to be true, and you experience all of the *** that Sanford brings along. 16) You quit.

Don't even bother

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had an interview here before. I spoke with basically everyone who was present that day. Everyone was fine until I got to Sanford. Wow. ***, narcissistic, mean, awful, doesn't even begin to describe him. He's looking at my resume and YELLS at me, saying its unprofessional to have a resume with faded text. I gave him another copy I had (everyone else I spoke to didn't mind). He tells me that if I were to get hired then I CANNOT work for anyone else. And I will have to sign a contract stating that I must work for him for at least 1 year. If I leave before then, he will make sure I don't get hired anywhere else because he has a lot of friends. As a college graduate, he was offering me $8 an hour to work. Unbelievable. Then he goes on saying how he is going to call each and every one of my past jobs to see how I am as an employee (he didn't believe me when I said I was respectful, kind, and hard working). At this point I feel like I did something wrong here. He does take me out for a bite to eat afterwards, which was nice. But during the meal he tells me he will email me the contract so I can sign it. I told him that I am still interviewing elsewhere, and if I could let him know in a few days. He starts flipping out saying that I wasted his time all along. I let him know that I was never given a job offer and I never assume anything, especially during an interview. He goes on about how I am so ungrateful and rude by wasting his time. Tells me to leave the diner and email HR saying that I don't want to work. Never felt so put off by a job in my life. I looked into it, and it turns out I am not along. Stay away from this place!

When I was there I saw Sanford wantonly and uncontrollably scream at an intern applicant. The applicant was no more than a boy and scared out of his wits.

It was a very unpleasant sight and like nothing I have ever seen before in any workplace. I got out fast.

One of the worst companies in New York City run by one of the most truly horrid people I have ever met

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
What can I say? If you want to be screwed over out of money and work for a disorganized, not very intelligent, sociopathic monster then this is the job for you!! Prepare to be skimped on every pay check, get screamed at and belittled every day, and over all dread your existence working for this hellish and unprofessional, disrespectful disgrace of an agency. And don't be fooled by all the positive reviews you see on here and other sites, they intentionally upvote them and write them to try and push the real reviews like this one out of peoples site (I know this because I have literally written one of them before). Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from Sanford Wilk and anything he is even remotely associated with. He is truly a plague to this beautiful city and wants nothing more than to exploit others and take advantage of the unknowing. Tschuss!

Let's see how long it takes for a positive review to show up after this one. The pattern is pretty obvious when you look at it..

Whoever wrote this Thankyou!

Most sheisty in NYC only scam their customers... But EIC is even more special- they scam their employees as well!!

Nasty all around

If you yourself are not the center of an ugly scene at EIC, be sure that you will witness plenty of drama. The irascible owner of this agency revels in belittling, haranguing, threatening and sneering at his employees in long monologues for all to see and hear. Although most jobs at EIC are part-time with low wages and no benefits, the boss expects his workers to put in strenuous hours and be on constant call -- he has no regard at all for employees' time. EIC's crowded office has a whiffy odor that you will want to wash out of your clothes and hair when you go home. Steer clear of this low-rent, needlessly stressful environment.

One of a kind find

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I became their client about 16 months ago. I was looking for an honest company that does listen to their clients to learn about the objectives and goals and delivers high level service with expertise and care. I found wonderful carrying service, great customer care, exceptional quality in design and video department, very accommodating to ones goals learning about the customer. All together brings best results! I can not say enough how happy I am to find them! Initially my goal was to develop a logo representing area of work we do and EIC was the third company in the process to complete this task with great result. Now after developing and maintaining the entire website, and developing videos showing and representing our work in light and care we do; I am so thrilled I found them. Thank you EIC team!

I agree with every word of the previous reviewer!

I also worked at EIC for free (it was called apprenticeship). In addition to the previous review I can say that not only I had to work 5 days a week 8 hours a day, but I was obligated to come to his luxury apartment every Saturday for a weekly dose of humiliation. The work I produced not only was profitable back then, but is still in use now - 7 years after I created it! I remember horrible atmosphere of constant fear in the office and the weird ugly uniform the employees were forced to wear all the time.

Sanford Wilk at EIC agency

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I wrote a bad review about Sanford a little while ago. I felt slighted, but the issue has been resolved and I am trying to take down my review. Pissed consumer is telling me to swear an oath that at the time the review was written, the claims were false. That was not necessarily the case. I might have written out of anger, but I still had issues with Sanford and EIC at the time. I didn't know postings here were permanent. I just wanted to get his attention and make him understand that happy employees are central to the success of a business. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take down this review? Pissed consumer's customer service is not very helpful.

Sanford Wilk: who is Sanford Wilk?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Seriously...who is Sanford Wilk? Is he really the digital marketing guru people talk about? I guess I'll see for myself. I'm applying for an internship position next semester. I'll keep you all updated. I'm supposed to write up to 100 words, but I'm pretty much done with my question and statement. Will it be weird if I just write 'blah' over and over again? May be not. But then again, I doubt pissedconsumer or Sanford Wilk will care (if he sees this at all). Do I have my 100 words yet? I think this last sentence got me there. Talk to you all later folks.

SANFORD STOP WRITING ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Sanford stop writing all the good reviews!!!!! Your attitude is *** that's why you only have 3 clients that put up with your ***. And you usually lose them anyway because you don't know how to treat people. CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE. HE IS THE WORST PERSON TO WORK FOR! HE DOESNT EVEN PAY! That's why he offers "internships" and hands you work you should be getting paid to do. This is NY Sanford. You can make it anywhere, stop smelling your own *** and get over yourself, you ain't ***, and your designs aren't even up to date. Please stop your ***.

Sanford Wilk will not accommodate my Vegan LifeStyle

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Sanford stocks the office with snacks and drinks, which we appreciate. Unfortunately, many of the items are not vegan friendly. Except black coffee of course, which I do not drink. And peanuts and cashews, which I quickly got tired of eating everyday. He refused to get more vegan friendly items because no one, except me requires special accommodation. He says he spends hundreds of dollars on these items every month, which, like I said earlier, we appreciate. I understand it is a privilege and he does not have to get us anything, but I believe what is worth doing, is worth doing well. Please include more Vegan friendly snacks to your monthly grocery list. Thank you

Sanford Wilk at EIC Agency is a nice and compassionate individual who is very direct and not always politically correct, which might rub many people the wrong way.

Updated by user Jul 20, 2015

For those of you who think this review is fake, it is not. I and my roommate share similar opinions about Sanford because she applied for a job there.

Not everyone is unhappy with Sanford Wilk and EIC Agency. The only reason you see negative reviews on this site is because it is called pissedconsumer.com (hello).

Original review Jul 08, 2015
I currently work at EIC and I must admit, I was a bit intimidated by Sanford’s directness and speaking voice, until I realized he was hard at hearing which explains why he appears to yell when he speaks. I have an uncle with the same issue, so I am not new to this. I googled EIC review, EIC Agency review and Sanford Wilk review on google and I found reviews and complaints that appear to come from disgruntled ex – employees and interns; on pissedConsumer.com in particular. These individuals who were either let go, fired or not hired for various reasons called SanfordWilk a scam. I have been here for only a few months and I felt the need to review Sanford and EIC because I noticed a review by a former employee who had very questionable work ethics. She was what a politically correct boss will call ‘unmotivated’ but Sanford, I and many others will call ‘Lazy’. One thing I know, without a doubt, is that Sanford has low tolerance for lazy workers, whom the entire office has to micro-manage. This is partly because EICAgency works with many clients; which means like every other Marketing Agency, we have to walk on egg shells around these clients, which leave little or no room for mistakes. One lazy employee can cause the business a client (I’ve seen that happen). Sanford gives interns and college grads learning opportunities and resources, which, unfortunately means that regular full time workers and/or part-time staff are constantly training inexperienced students and new grads who do not yet understand the job market and what is means to work hard. That being said, he definitely needs to understand that his expectations of full time, experienced employees should differ from current college students who have probably never had to work a day in their entire lives. These kids/young adults are typically impatient and quick to complain and post negative reviews when they are written up, or refused employment and/or internship opportunities for various reasons. To conclude, Sanford Wilk at EIC Agency is a very nice and accommodating boss; but with an old-school attitude and work ethic.

I have no opinion of him. I'm just neutral

I came here to read reviews on a few companies I am applying to. From what I see on pissed consumer, I guess there are no good companies or bosses out there, lol

I came to this site to find out more about companies I am applying to and based on what I've seen, there isn't one good company out there, lol.

this IS him behind the screen, if not it's john. He truly is someone you wouldn't want to work with.

All the good reviews are based on him and the team there. No he's not 100% horrible but he doesn't know how to communicate with his team respectfully.

Interesting read. Battle of the reviews. I don't know much about sanford or eic, but I know posting in all CAPS reveals the maturity level and the emotional state of the reviewer.

I have read a few reviews here on pissedconsumer.com; mostly negative, and a few positive. It's hard to say whether or not the positive reviews are fake or not, but I can understand why a happy consumer or employee feels the need to defend the company. This website was developed for negative and unhappy so people only see the negative reviews, which is only one side of the story.

Bad vibe

interesting to read! Just went through some old e-mails, came across EIC and did a brief google search out of curiosity. I had a phone interview with mr wilk back in 2012 for an internship as part of a business admin program. This man was an absolute joke. "a no-***-kinda-guy" he called himself. Didn't ask me a single question as to my qualifications in any way. Instead, he went on about how he forced all of his interns to read at least 3 books a week. Spoke to one of his interns myself, who seemed terrified to speak his mind about what he thought of mr wilk and his approach. At some point it sounded like he grabbed the phone out of his intern's hands and started shouting at him. Shouted at me too, had no clue what he was on about. Don't have much else to say rather than the immediate Bad Vibe I got from this guy. Just wanted to add to this review :)

So sad.

I'm not going to lie about learning anything from the books. But working under Sanford is ridiculous. He's rude and his behavior has been a result of losing clients and employees. No one is asking him to be nice, just speak to people with respect and maybe he'd make more money and have more clients. No one can work with him for more than 2 years at a company standing for 18? Something isn't right. Don't waste your time with this nut job. And don't get me started on Sex Harold.... Sanford Harry Wilk treats everyone like *** and doesn't care that he does.

I found Mr. Wilk to be very straightforward. Only these young, mostly foreign narcissists with entitlement issues and others who simply don't like him are making these posts. The owners of this site were just sued by his lawyer so any new posts are just a feeble retaliation anyway

sanford you can't sue for slander unless you can prove it's not true, and everyone that works for you knows it. Not this many people would go out their way to complain about you if everything was perfect. When you learn what you're doing is wrong maybe you won't have so many complaints.
